Mayor Michael Dickey officially declared April 24 as Lion Ron McAfee Day in the town of Henryetta, recognizing McAfee’s extraordinary 64 years and seven months of uninterrupted service to the Henryetta Lions Club. Known for his unwavering commitment, McAfee achieved the rare distinction of perfect meeting attendance throughout his decades of involvement.
“The Lions Club has long stood as a beacon of community service, compassion and civic responsibility,” Mayor Dickey read from the official proclamation. “Ronald Lee McAfee demonstrated extraordinary commitment to these values ... not missing a single meeting in over six decades is a remarkable feat for any individual.”
Throughout his years of service, McAfee contributed to countless community projects, fundraisers and charitable efforts, always leading by example. McAfee was noted for his reliability, humility and kindness that served as a source of inspiration for generations of volunteers.
“He had a great commitment to our community and was a friend to a lot of us, even myself included,” Mayor Dickey shared during the ceremony. “Over the years, he mentored many young men. He touched the lives of so many in Henryetta. He is very appreciated - and deeply missed.”
Friday’s ceremony served not only as a tribute to McAfee’s legacy but also as a reminder of the lasting impact one person can have through consistent, quiet dedication. The Henryetta Lions Club and city officials encourage residents to reflect on his example and continue building the kind of community he worked so passionately to support.

Whereas the Lions Club has long stood as a beacon of community service, compassion and civic responsibility, and Whereas Ronald Lee McAfee had demonstrated extraordinary commitment to these values, having served faithfully as a member of the Lions Club for an incredible 64 years and seven months with perfect meeting attendance.
And whereas throughout those 64 years, Lion Ron McAfee had not missed a single meeting, exemplifying dedication, reliability and profound love for his community.
And whereas Ronald Lee McAfee has contributed to countless projects, initiatives and charitable efforts helping to improve the lives of many and inspiring fellow members with his tireless service and wavering spirit.
And whereas it is fitting and proper that we recognize and celebrate such a milestone of service and commitment in his honor.
Now therefore be it resolved that I, Mayor Michael Dickey, mayor of the town of Henryetta, do hereby proclaim April 24 as Lion Ron McAfee day in the town of Henryetta, in honor of his remarkable 64 years of service to the Henryetta Lions Club to our community.
