By FIRST NAME LAST NAME REPORTER,

A lifetime of dedication and service was honored Friday at Henryetta City Hall as family members, city leaders, community members and fellow Lions gathered for a proclamation ceremony in memory of the late Ronald Lee McAfee.

A lifetime of dedication and service was honored Friday at Henryetta City Hall as family members, city leaders, community members and fellow Lions gathered for a proclamation ceremony in memory of the late Ronald Lee McAfee.

Mayor Michael Dickey officially declared April 24 as Lion Ron McAfee Day in the town of Henryetta, recognizing McAfee’s extraordinary 64 years and seven months of uninterrupted service to the Henryetta Lions Club. Known for his unwavering commitment, McAfee achieved the rare distinction of perfect meeting attendance throughout his decades of involvement.

“The Lions Club has long stood as a beacon of community service, compassion and civic responsibility,” Mayor Dickey read from the official proclamation. “Ronald Lee McAfee demonstrated extraordinary commitment to these values ... not missing a single meeting in over six decades is a remarkable feat for any individual.”

Throughout his years of service, McAfee contributed to countless community projects, fundraisers and charitable efforts, always leading by example. McAfee was noted for his reliability, humility and kindness that served as a source of inspiration for generations of volunteers.

“He had a great commitment to our community and was a friend to a lot of us, even myself included,” Mayor Dickey shared during the ceremony. “Over the years, he mentored many young men. He touched the lives of so many in Henryetta. He is very appreciated - and deeply missed.”

Friday’s ceremony served not only as a tribute to McAfee’s legacy but also as a reminder of the lasting impact one person can have through consistent, quiet dedication. The Henryetta Lions Club and city officials encourage residents to reflect on his example and continue building the kind of community he worked so passionately to support.

The proclamation was met with applause and emotion, as attendees shared stories of McAfee’s generosity, leadership and lasting influence.
