Wilson shines at Hilldale
By PATRICK FORD,

The Hilldale High School Track Meet on April 11 drew top athletes from across eastern Oklahoma, but it was Wilson’s athletes who made a bold impression amidst tough competition.

The Hilldale High School Track Meet on April 11 drew top athletes from across eastern Oklahoma, but it was Wilson’s athletes who made a bold impression amidst tough competition.

Reese Herring, a standout sophomore for Wilson, delivered strong performances in both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Herring placed 6th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.09 seconds, earning her a team point. She also clocked 53.36 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, narrowly missing a top-six finish in the fast-paced field.

Wilson’s boys also showed grit on the track. Junior Zachariah Tecumseh competed in the boys’ 100-meter and 400-meter races, finishing the 100 in 11.88 seconds and the 400 in 59.48 seconds - a competitive time in a large field of sprinters. Tecumseh returned later in the day for the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 28.65 seconds.

Anthony Wind Jr., another Wilson senior, competed in the 100-meter dash and finished in 13.26 seconds, a solid effort in a field dominated by elite sprinters.

Wilson’s athletes may not have walked away with podium finishes across the board, but they earned the respect of their peers with gutsy runs and continued improvement in times and technique.
