Despite building a commanding 12-run lead early, the Okmulgee Varsity Bulldogs were stunned by Millwood in a dramatic 19-16 loss Tuesday.
The Bulldogs led 14-2 by the top of the fourth, fueled by a huge second and third inning that included RBIs from Kenden Brooks, Raydon Dodds, Elijah Edwards, Brandon Simon and Javeion Wilson.
But Millwood roared back, scoring seven in the fourth and eight more in the fifth to take control. JJ drove in two of the decisive runs in a five-hit rally.
Jax Finch, who opened the game strong with a triple and RBI, took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing 17 runs (15 earned). Okmulgee starter Denver gave up 14 runs but was spared the loss.
Finch and Deere lead the Dogs with two hits each, while the team stole an impressive 39 bases and drew 19 walks.
Millwood matched the intensity, racking up 13 hits and 28 stolen bases, with Pope leading the charge at 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs.
