Okmulgee Community Theatre presents ‘Clue’

This weekend, the Okmulgee Community Theatre invites you to experience mystery, mischief and mayhem in their lively production of “Clue,” a theatrical adaptation inspired by the classic board game and beloved 1985 movie. Set to unfold on the stage of the historic Orpheum Theatre, this performance features a spirited local cast, familiar faces from past productions and several fresh talents making their community theatre debut.

This weekend, the Okmulgee Community Theatre invites you to experience mystery, mischief and mayhem in their lively production of “Clue,” a theatrical adaptation inspired by the classic board game and beloved 1985 movie. Set to unfold on the stage of the historic Orpheum Theatre, this performance features a spirited local cast, familiar faces from past productions and several fresh talents making their community theatre debut.

“Clue” takes the stage on Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre, 210 W. 7th St. in downtown Okmulgee. Admission is $10 adults and $5 for age 12 and under. The concession stand will feature popcorn, soda and water.

This performance of “Clue” is an ensemble piece brimming with quirky characters, mysterious motives and comedic chaos. The story unfolds in a mansion filled with secrets and plenty of suspicion, as guests attempt to solve a murder - or avoid being the next victim. The cast includes a blend of returning actors and newcomers, each bringing energy and personality to their roles.

Violet Clinger (Yvette) - A devoted theatre enthusiast, Violet has performed in The Addams Family: The Musical, The Music Man and the Theatre’s “Radio Show.” She loves every aspect of the creative process, from the audience’s energy to dancing in the spotlight.

Jeb Stuart Cook (Wadsworth) A Dewar High School graduate, Jeb shined in speech and debate and is an avid Dungeon Master. A veteran of the Theatre’s “Radio Show” and “Improv Show,” he brings wit and charm to the stage.

Kat Sampson (Miss Scarlet) Kat moved to Okmulgee in 2019 and is reprising her role as Miss Scarlet in tribute to her late cousin Sunny Williams, who was originally cast in the first Clue production. Kat is also instrumental behind the scenes, handling script work, set design and video production.

Rachel Brock (Mrs. Peacock) - Born and raised in Okmulgee, Rachel is a digital artist and lifelong fan of “geek culture.” This marks her stage debut, though she has long been immersed in storytelling and creativity.

Nicole Rains (Mrs. White) - A seasoned musician and actress, Nicole has performed in many productions including Clue, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Rocky Horror Show. She’s the pianist for “The House of Orpheus” band and serves as secretary for the Community Theatre.

Caleb Brown (Colonel Mustard) - A Tulsa native and Coffee Vault barista in Morris, Caleb has an extensive performance résumé from grade school to local theatre. His prior roles include Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz and a student extra in Reservation Dogs.

Romello “Mello” Smith (Professor Plum) - Hailing from Bristow, Mello has brought his talent to productions of Clue, The Rocky Horror Show and The Wizard of Oz. His passion for theatre ensures he always finds time to perform, despite a packed schedule.

Sean Rains (Mr. Green) - A pillar of the Theatre since its inception, Sean has done everything from spotlight operation to singing in the Country Music Show. His acting credits include Clue, Rocky Horror Show and he frequently hosts the “Improv Show.”

Bryn Smith (The Cook) - A newcomer to the stage, Bryn is an active reader, hobbyist and wife of Mello Smith. With a flair for crocheting and chaos, she’s bringing personality to the role of the Cook while studying to become a social worker.

Josiah Felkins (Mr. Boddy & The Motorist) - A performer since middle school, Josiah’s credits include Robin Hood, The Wizard of Oz, Rocky Horror Show and Dial M for Murder. A filmmaker at heart, he aims to blend his love for acting and film.

Dru Sample (The Cop) - An Okmulgee native, Dru brings years of theatrical experience from Colorado and Oklahoma. Her versatility and backstage expertise have made her a reliable fixture in community productions such as Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and Clue.

Traci Lewis (Singing Telegram Girl) - Traci, the Genealogy Librarian at Okmulgee Public Library, is making her debut with the Community Theatre. Her love of storytelling and creative arts shines in this quirky cameo role.

Amanda McLemore (The Chief & Radio Voice) - A Texas native who moved to Oklahoma 15 years ago, Amanda has acted in The Wizard of Oz, The Rocky Horror Show and Dial M for Murder. Her joy for performance is fueled by her passion for people and creativity.

--- The Creative Team

The production is directed by Fay Tipton and the cast. Fay has been instrumental in guiding the Okmulgee Community Theatre since its inception. Her dedication to bringing shows to life on the Orpheum stage has earned admiration from audiences and cast alike.

Joshua Crow, the Theatre Manager and President of the Board, wears many hats - running sound, organizing productions and mentoring cast members. He was mentored by the late John McConnel (1941-2024), who served as a longtime advocate for local and professional theatre. John began his theatre journey at age 11 and remained a champion for local performers throughout his life.

The Okmulgee Community Theatre continues to thrive as a creative outlet for local residents. Formed in 2019, the organization has put on productions ranging from “The Wizard of Oz” to “The Rocky Horror Show” and continues to welcome new talent. With no membership dues, it remains an accessible, inclusive space for actors, musicians, technicians and storytellers of all ages.

Through the support of the John McConnel Estate, local sponsors and community volunteers, this vibrant troupe has transformed the Orpheum Theatre into a beacon of local arts and entertainment.

-Catch the show this weekend and see if you can piece together the puzzle before the final curtain call. Will it be Miss Scarlet in the library with the candlestick? Or perhaps Colonel Mustard in the study with the wrench?

No matter who did it, this production promises to be a thrilling, laughter-filled night of theatre right in the heart of Okmulgee.

- The Okmulgee Community Theatre, founded in early 2019 as a non-profit organization, continues to fulfill its mission of providing a creative outlet for local residents and producing high-quality entertainment. Under the guidance of longtime director Fay Tipton and theatre manager Joshua Crow, the group has grown into a vibrant hub for drama, music and comedy. With no membership dues, participation is open to anyone wanting to be part of live theatre.
