The Frontier Kids, a local youth group that meets at the Henryetta VFW throughout the year, recently returned from an unforgettable educational journey to Washington, D.C.
Thanks to months of fundraising efforts and the generous support of the community, the group was able to embark on the trip of a lifetime to the nation’s capital. From touring the White House to exploring the Smithsonian museums, national monuments and historic memorials, the Frontier Kids were immersed in the heart of American history and government.
The trip also included visits to the National Zoo, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where U.S. currency is made, the Library of Congress, and the U.S. Capitol Building - offering the kids a deeper appreciation of the country’s past and present.
“This was more than just a vacation,” organizers shared. “It was a chance to learn, grow, and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
The success of the trip would not have been possible without the hard work of the Frontier Kids, who raised much of the funding themselves, and the overwhelming generosity of local donors. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who contributed, including Linda Cope, Judy and Phil Snow, Aesthetics by Maddie, Don Miguel’s, American Exchange Bank, Patrons Bank, Green Country Insurance, The Shack, The Bryant family, the American Battlefield Trust, Cave’s Jewelry, Dena and Kevin Hutson, Vanessa VanCleave and Randy’s Meat.
With memories made and minds inspired, the Frontier Kids have returned home with a renewed sense of appreciation for their country - and for the community that helped them experience it firsthand.
