A Tulsa man was arrested in Henryetta on the night of Friday, March 14, after allegedly traveling there to meet someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl for sexual purposes.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Okmulgee County District Court, 36-yearold Cody Dwaine Woods was taken into custody in the parking lot of Walmart on East Main Street following a sting operation initiated by local citizens posing online as a minor.
A Henryetta Police officer responded to the scene around 9:15 p.m. after receiving a report that a man was attempting to meet a minor for sex. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with several individuals who indicated they had been communicating online with Woods while posing as a 14-year-old girl.
According to the court document, the officer was provided with information pertaining to the alleged contact. When officers approached Woods, he voluntarily turned around and placed his hands behind his back, admitting he was aware of what he had done, the court document stated.
Woods reportedly told officers he had initially believed the girl was 18, but later learned she was only 14. Despite knowing her age, he admitted to continuing the conversation and driving from Tulsa to Henryetta to meet her. He also acknowledged plans to engage in sexual activity with the minor and confirmed he had sent explicit images of himself during their exchange.
Woods was arrested and transported to the Okmulgee County Jail, where he was booked on multiple felony complaints, including: • Soliciting sexual conduct with a minor (21 O.S. § 1040.13a)
• Procuring or assisting a person to expose themselves for sexual stimulation (21 O.S. § 1021(A) (2))
• Enticing a child under 16 to a secluded location for immoral purposes (21 O.S. § 1123(A)(3)) Woods is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Okmulgee County district court on March 27, as he remains jailed on a $50,000 bond.
This case remains under investigation. Police are reminding the public to remain vigilant about online activity and report any suspicious behavior to authorities immediately.
