The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners met briefly Tuesday morning for their regular weekly meeting.
The board began by approving the minutes from last week’s meeting. They then approved an officer’s report from the Election Board and added Stephanie Mayfield as a full-time District 1 employee.
Next, the commissioners approved two claims: one for the Sheriff ’s Office for postage stamps and another for the Governmental Building Authority. They also approved the purchase of a mini split unit for the Emergency Management building, citing the need for proper heating and air conditioning. The project cost approximately $4,355 and will be funded through the Local County Tax Fund.
Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore reported on recent activities, including a coordination meeting with the Red Cross and an inspection of the shelter trailer currently in use at the warming center. He also highlighted delays in FEMA reimbursements due to a change in project management and mentioned ongoing floodplain calls and preparations for a countywide safety meeting.
The meeting concluded with Sheriff Eddy Rice commending the improved public chemistry and professionalism of the board. Other attendees echoed his sentiments.
