The Measure of Faith
By MARY MORRIS HENRYETTA RESIDENT,

“Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘It shall be done to you according to your faith.’” - Matthew 9:29 Blind men wanting sight. They asked Jesus and He granted it. And He spoke volumes in His response. How often do we have opportunities to stand in for Jesus but we decline because we feel inadequate? Sure, it’s important to know limitations. For instance, would it be prudent to ask a four-year-old to use a power saw? Of course not. But it doesn’t mean that child can’t be of any use at all. I haven’t seen a toddler yet who isn’t made to feel important when asked to help with a task. So should we be when given a chance. The Lord knows our heart. He reads ahead of time our intentions. If they are pure, He gives to us more than we ever thought we could do on our own. Healing, comfort, love, joy, wisdom - these and so much more are available to those who ask in faith. If one is certain, beyond any and all doubt, that the answer has already been given, then it is so, just as the blind men when they approached Jesus. We each have a time at least once in our lives when we must measure our faith. When it comes, will we measure up?
