The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners held a brief meeting Monday, approving routine items such as minutes from the previous meeting and payment of claims.
They also approved blanket purchase orders, including $1,500 for Cookson Hills Publishers (General Government), $900 for O’Reilly’s, $500 for Kennedy Lumber and $500 for Burnett Hardware (District 3).
Three utility permits were approved for District 1, all with RWD #6. Allocations of the Alcoholic Beverage Tax and Motor Vehicle Tax were approved, as well as reimbursement claims for both the Election Board Secretary’s salary and the District Attorney’s Office.
Other approvals included a renewal contract with Miller Office Equipment for printer maintenance, a cash fund appropriation request, and corrections for an accounting error related to the quarter-cent tax.
During his weekly update, Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore reported six injuries across the county for the year, down from the previous year, attributing the improvement to an increased focus on safety. He also detailed weather monitoring efforts, noting closures on I-40 and Conifer Road due to icy conditions. Additionally, Moore announced an upcoming arctic blast event and highlighted forecasts for what could be the coldest temperatures since 2021.
The board also discussed the need to update the employee handbook to reflect recent payroll changes. Following this, they voted to enter an executive session.
