An Okmulgee man has pled guilty to manslaughter in federal court.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Monday that Brett Wayne Pigeon, age 44, entered a guilty plea to an Information of one count of Voluntary Manslaughter in Indian Country and one count of Using, Carrying, Brandishing and Discharging a Firearm in Relation to a Crime of Violence.
The Information alleged that on or about Nov. 27, 2023, Pigeon killed 31-year-old Jonathan Pigeon with a shotgun. The victim was found dead on a street in Okmulgee.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Okmulgee Police Department and the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department.
The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a pre-sentence investigation report. Pigeon will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
