The Morris Eagles school board hired their Athletic Director Jimmy Whitlock as the new head football coach and Brian Young as offensive coordinator. Whitlock comes from Hall of Fame Coach Mike Snyder coaching tree. Whitlock has been successful as an offensive coordinator and a defensive coordinator with stops at Seminole, Checotah and Eufaula, where he helped lead the Ironheads to the Class 2A State Semifinals.
“I’m very excited about being the head coach of Morris. Morris has a proud history with a state championship in 1985. Morris has produced some great athletes and I look forward to the challenge to winning another championship. The first order of business was getting Brian Young on my staff. We have worked together in the past and I wouldn’t want anybody else for that position,” Whitlock said.
Brian Young was a longtime assistant and offensive coordinator at Checotah. Young averaged 40-points per game and developed some of the most talented quarterbacks in high school.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on the football field. Jimmy and I worked great together before and we will do it again. I appreciate all the support I received from Morris’ administration and am excited about bringing a winning program to the Eagle fans,” Young said.
Whitlock takes over the football program after Robert Daniels who resigned after going 0-10 in the 2024 season.
