The Okmulgee County Commissioners held their first regular December meeting on Monday, opening with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance before addressing county business.
The minutes from the Nov. 25 meeting were approved, along with the November reports from the Health Department and County Clerk and the October reports from the Sheriff ’s Office and Election Board.
Approved blanket purchase orders include: District 3 – O’Reilly’s for $900, Cintas for $900 and RPI for $800; General Government – Cookson Hills Publishers for $1,500; Health Department – Amazon for $5,000 and MN for $500; Nuyaka Fire Department – RPI for $1,000 and S&H Auto for $1,000.
Plats for Prairie Estates and Journey’s End were also approved following last week’s discussion and a subsequent review by the district attorney’s office.
The board then approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Muscogee Nation concerning W. Gun Club Road, allowing the nation to assist with maintenance while the county retains oversight.
Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore provided his weekly report, which included meetings with the National Weather Service and FEMA and actions taken to prepare for freezing temperatures. He also noted that the county’s safety manual is set for final review and refinement later this month.
Lastly, the commissioners adopted the 2025 meeting schedule, maintaining the current practice of meeting every Monday, excluding holidays.
