Henryetta recently found itself in the spotlight as the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Oklahoma District launched its Season of Small Business campaign. The event, held on Nov. 22, celebrated Henryetta’s small business community and encouraged residents to shop local during the upcoming holiday season.
The campaign was spearheaded by SBA Oklahoma District Director Fernanda Pedraza- Schmitt, who was joined by Genny Abbott Mooney, Director of the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce; Ashley Morris, President of the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce; Amber Mordecai, Head of Tourism; Jill Frances of the Henryetta Economic Development Authority (HEDA); Keith Estes, HEDA Chairman; David Bullard, Henryetta City Manager; and other distinguished local leaders and entrepreneurs.
The day began at the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce office before setting off on a tour of the city’s small business scene. Stops included family-run jewelry stores, flower boutiques, cozy cafes and specialty markets, showcasing the diversity and creativity that define Henryetta’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Businesses included Caves Jewelry, Rheba’s Buds and Blooms and Burnett’s Furniture, along with other hidden gems that contribute to the city’s economic vibrancy.
Shop owners shared their stories of resilience and success, emphasizing how the support of the local community has been instrumental in their growth. SBA representatives underscored the importance of Small Business Saturday, set for Nov. 30, as a critical opportunity for residents to extend their support and ensure the continued prosperity of local businesses.
The event brought together residents, local officials, and business owners in a celebration of small business and its impact on the local economy. As the holiday season approaches, the message of the day was clear: shopping small not only strengthens the community but also ensures its growth and sustainability for years to come.
