Governor J. Kevin Stitt has called a Special Election to fill a vacancy in the office of Okmulgee County Commissioner, District 1, the Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary said Wednesday.
The election is being called due to the resignation of Commissioner G. Erik Zoellner, effective Dec. 16.
The Special Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Special General Election will be held Tuesday, April 1. The filing period begins Monday, Dec. 2, at 8 a.m. and ends Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.
Those interested in becoming a candidate for the office may obtain an official filing packet at the Okmulgee County Election Board or download a packet from the State Election Board website at oklahoma. gov/elections. The Okmulgee County Election Board is located at 314 W. 7th Street, Room 102 in the Okmulgee County Courthouse.
