Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
Take a deep breath.
A note to remember this country and this state are more than a mere political letter. We are about community and serving those who live here. With the closing of the election, I wish to remind everyone to pause and breathe. Democracy is about agreeing and disagreeing in the same breath, while at the same time holding accountable those who are in positions of power. We must not dilute the truth of our democracy with only aspirations of agreement. The basis of our democracy is working towards a more fair, equitable and just communion. This foundational truth is what we will continue to highlight and work toward.
In the meantime, We hold space for frustrations of unmet expectations and will be here to remind leaders of their promises of engagement and development.
We hold space for those who are marginalized and remind you all we are here, standing up for you, believe there is room enough for everyone to be recognized, honored and heard. We hold space for those who are frustrated and scared, and remind you we are not islands of isolation. We will continue to connect to build the future where our children to learn, our elders to be honored, and our communities served.
Take a deep breath, for our lament must not turn to apathy but resistance of a continual push for the best of our community.
Take a deep breath, and stay engaged in the process.
Respectfully submitted, Rosie Lynch, Chair of the Okmulgee County Democratic Party
