Homeless Shelter faces closure

Homeless Shelter faces closure

Dear community, friends and family, I have a serious note to share: As of today, the Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter (OCHS) is in immediate danger of closing its doors after decades of service to our community.

From April to September, thanks to the support of CREOKS, OK Workforce, DHS and various community services, we’ve assisted over 90 clients, with more than 70 individuals securing housing and employment. This is a significant achievement for all of us.

However, we are currently facing a critical funding challenge, with less than $8,000 re- maining in our accounts. We urgently need your help. We are in negotiations with granting agencies and are thankful for The United Way for their emergency funds donated, as well as others that are in process, but we need help now.

Here’s how you can support us:

• Donate: Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go directly toward keeping our shelter operational.

• Spread the Word: Please share this message with your friends, businesses, and churches. The more people who know, the better our chances of securing support.

• Find Matching Partners: If you have connections to businesses or organizations that might be willing to match donations, please reach out.

Our priority is to continue providing a safe haven for the adults and children currently staying at OCHS. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 918-756-9098.

Thank you for your continued support of our community’s most vulnerable members.

With gratitude, Rosie Lynch Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter
