The Okmulgee County Humane Society (OCHS) has six dogs in foster homes that have been waiting for their forever homes for way too long. When you adopt a dog who has been fostered, you reap so many personal benefits as well as helping our community which is in such need of saving more dogs. Here are four good reasons to adopt a foster: 1. Adopting a foster makes room for the foster to accept another into their home which saves another homeless animal in need.

Meet six of our fosters: Kendal, Odin, Philly, Mercury, Riot and Cadbury.
Most have been in a foster home for a long, long time and are eagerly waiting for their forever homes.
• Kendal is a five-year-old male, is a sweetheart with humans of all ages as well as dogs. He is a favorite among the grandchildren in his foster family. He is more of a couch potato than wildly running and playing. He is crate, house, and leash trained. A secure fence will benefit his safety. See more about Kendal on is profile at www.petfinder.com/ dog/kendal-54243129/ok/okmulgee/okmulgee-humane- society-ok71/.
• Odin is nearing two years old and is best friends with the foster’s adopted dog (also from OCHS). He has taught Odin good manners and has been an excellent mentor. Odin is healthy, smart, and spunky. He loves toys, plays fetch, and is treat motivated. • Philly is approximately four years old and weighs 62 pounds strong. Philly will need a secure fenced yard where she can run and roll. She absolutely loves to roll in the grass. Philly is an inside/outside dog. She is house trained and crate trained. Philly loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She might play rough, but never mean. She is cool with cats. She also loves to go for walks and swims. She is friendly and loving. Give Philly the loving home she deserves. See her profile at www.petfinder.com/ dog/philly-68809141/ok/okmulgee/okmulgee-humane- society-ok71/.
• Mercury is two years old. He’s a big boy at 74 pounds and needs a big, strong person to manage him. Mercury has high energy and will do best with an active lifestyle. He has done well getting along with other dogs at our adoption events and doing well with all his foster friends. Give Mercury a try today at www.petfinder.com/dog/mercury- 70075831/ok/okmulgee/okmulgee-humane-society- ok71/.
• Riot is a three-year-old Catahoula Mix weighing in at 50 pounds. He’s gentle, kind, affectionate, and smart. Riot belly crawls to play with the small ones. Riot continues to do great with kids. He will do best in a home with female dogs and we would suggest a household without cats and kittens as he gets too excited they run from him. Meeting this beauty is a must - visit www.petfinder.com/dog/riot-71134780/ ok/okmulgee/okmulgee-humane-society-ok71/.
• Cadbury is a young male weighing in at only 30 pounds. He has lots of fun, entertaining, puppy energy. He is good with other dogs and paid very little attention to the young children. Cadbury is fairly new to a foster home, but he settled into the home environment immediately. See more of Cadbury’s happy face and apply today at www.petfinder. com/dog/cadbury-72239200/ok/okmulgee/okmulgee- humane-society-ok71/. Please consider meeting one of our fabulous foster dogs by submitting an adoption application at www.okmulgeehumane.org/adopt.html.
Many past adopters report their rescue is the best dog they ever had. Not only did they rescue a dog, but their furry friend rescued them as well.
