The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners met Monday for their regular meeting, beginning with the approval of the Sept. 16 meeting minutes and the payment of claims.

Approved blanket purchase orders included: General Government – Comdata for $1,000; District 1 – Cintas for $800 and S&H Auto for $1,000; District 2 RPI for $1,000, Cintas for $700, AutoZone for $250, and O’Reilly for $250; District 3 – O’Reilly for $900, Cintas for $900 and RPI for $800.

Two full-time employees were approved for District 1. Both are CDL-A drivers, according to Commissioner Erik Zoellner.

Additionally, four utility permits were approved for District 1 – one with RWD #6 and three with Beggs Telephone – and another for District 3 with ecoLink.

The board approved a special cash fund request of appropriations to allow the court clerk to make payroll. They also approved a utility relocation for the Bristlecone Road project and approved the Sheriff ’s Office to apply for another JAG grant.

Two items were tabled: one regarding radio communications, as not all parties were present, and another concerning the plat for “Journey’s End,” which commissioners needed more time to review.

Before adjourning, the board heard emergency management and inventory reports. Okmulgee County Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore reported on the northeast area workshop, cybersecurity training, and meetings with the Red Cross. He emphasized the importance of county-wide preparedness for the upcoming severe weather season. Commissioner David Walker inquired about active shooter training at the courthouse, and Director Moore agreed to arrange it.

County officials also reported progress on obtaining facility inventory reports. BOCC Executive Assistant Jamie Steph noted several more reports had been received, including from Henryetta and Grayson the previous week, with other entities working to complete theirs.
