Henryetta High School (HHS) is gearing up for a memorable Homecoming celebration this year with a twist that promises to bring the community together like never before. Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10, the festivities will transform Main Street into a lively hub of school spirit and local pride.
“We are excited to announce some new plans for HHS Homecoming this year,” Stacy Been, HPS Communications Liaison, exclaimed. “We will be ‘taking it to the streets’ with a nod to past tradition.”
The city has granted permission to close off Main Street between 4th and 5th streets for a Community Hoco Block Party from approximately 6-7 p.m. The event will feature the Homecoming Court parade, Knights Football team, HHS Cheerleaders, and the Knight Brigade. Adding to the excitement, class floats, a staple of past Homecomings, will make a return.
“We want to let our awesome Main St. business sector get in the mix to welcome everyone to the pep rally and let Valliant know our boys have a ton of community support backing them on Friday night,” Stacy continued.
In a new initiative aimed at fostering community- school partnerships, HHS invites Main Street businesses to participate in the inaugural Spirited Storefront Competition. Detailed flyers outlining the contest guidelines will be distributed to businesses ahead of the event.
“We hope this friendly competition will be well participated in and we can continue promoting you and awarding one of many ways that you support HPS,” Been explained.
Businesses will be judged based on criteria including the use of school colors and branding, creativity, overall aesthetic, and community engagement through likes on a dedicated Knight Vision Facebook post. The judging panel will convene on Tuesday, Oct. 8th, and winners will be announced, with the winning business receiving the coveted “2024 Main Street Spirited Storefront Award.”
“We also invite you to join us for the Homecoming football game on Friday, Oct.11th,” Stacy added. “This homecoming celebration would also allow for possible increased foot traffic through your doors if you would wish to extend your business hours that evening or offer a special coordinating store/business event.”
For more information about participating in the Spirited Storefront Competition or any other inquiries about the event, businesses are encouraged to contact Stacy Been at Henryetta Public Schools.
“We are dependent on each other to maximize our success and growth,” Been emphasized. “Our new Superintendent Mr. Jason Price and our staff feel incredibly blessed to have a business sector and an entire community who rallies behind the school year after year. We want to do better in showing our gratitude for that!”
The Henryetta community eagerly anticipates this year’s Homecoming festivities as an opportunity to showcase school spirit, community unity, and support for Henryetta Public Schools.
