The Morris Lady Eagles struggled to find their rhythm last Thursday, falling to Eufaula in an 8-0 defeat. Despite some solid defensive efforts, the Lady Eagles couldn’t keep pace with Eufaula’s offense.
Eufaula took control early, getting on the scoreboard in the second inning when Tidwell singled to bring in the first run. They expanded their lead in the third inning, with Needham scoring on a tag-up play and Ballard blasting a two-run home run to center field.
Morris starting pitcher Fire Clark battled through five and two-thirds innings, giving up 11 hits and eight runs, though only four of those were earned. Clark struck out one and walked four in the effort. Meanwhile, Eufaula’s pitcher, Green, delivered a commanding performance, allowing just four hits over six innings while striking out eight and walking three.
Morris struggled to generate offense, with only four hits coming from Alli Guynes, Paige Hall, Fire Clark and Kailyn Fixico. Defensively, they managed to turn one double play, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Eufaula’s aggressive batting. Peterson and Lovett led Eufaula with three hits each, while Ballard’s home run added four RBIs to her team’s total.
Eufaula remained sharp in the field, committing no errors, with Tidwell leading the defense with nine chances.
The Morris Lady Eagles faced off against Prague at home on Monday, but dropped that game 5-12. They will be at Preston facing the Lady Pirates at 4 p.m. Thursday.
