The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Monday, starting with the approval of the minutes from the Sept. 3 meeting.
During comments from the public, a resident inquired about programs such as the INCOG Area Agency on Aging (IAAA) and others that assist senior citizens in staying in their homes. He provided documentation on a similar Tulsa-area program, which the commissioners said they would review.
The commissioners approved a full-time employment form for the sheriff ’s office, along with a utility permit for District 1, RWD#7 and a private property agreement from District 3 for dirt disposal. Reimbursement claims for the election board secretary’s salary and the district attorney were also approved.
Later, the commissioners approved a 324a claim for the Bristlecone Road project, as well as the allocation of alcoholic beverage and motor vehicle taxes. They then approved cash fund request appropriations and the payment of claims.
Okmulgee Emergency Man- agement Director Jeff Moore provided his weekly update, briefly reporting on follow-up meetings regarding tornado recovery and floodplain management, as well as recent responses to accidents and a hazardous materials incident along the highway.
Lastly, the commissioners reviewed the inventory status report, highlighting their efforts to update inventories from various county departments and offices as required by state statute.
The matter of department inventories was further discussed at the subsequent Okmulgee County Budget Board meeting. Ultimately the board decided to meet in about two weeks, giving them time to review the relevant laws and consult the district attorney to determine the next steps for addressing the issue of ensuring all departments complete their required annual inventories.
