Formal charges have been filed against a man accused of killing two people in Henryetta in late July.
Brady Jordan Alva Cifuentes, 21, has been charged in Okmulgee County District Court in CF-2024-122, with multiple felonies in connection with a tragic incident that took place on July 25. According to court documents filed on Aug. 15, the following charges were filed:
• Murder in the First Degree (Two Counts): Cifuentes is accused of causing the deaths of Elva Mavilia Cifuentes Cos and Daniel Yovani Velasquez. The charges specify that both victims sustained mortal wounds inflicted by stabbing.
• Assault and Battery with Deadly Weapon – Cifuentes is also charged with assaulting Denis Kenedy Alva Cifuentes with a deadly weapon, specifically a knife, during the same incident.
• Trafficking in Illegal Drugs (Marijuana) – Cifuentes faces charges related to the possession of over twenty-five pounds of marijuana, a controlled dangerous substance under Oklahoma law.
Cifuentes remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
During the incident on July 25, Cifuentes turned the knife on himself, and was transported to a Tulsa hospital, along with another stabbing victim, both in critical condition.
According to Henryetta Police Chief Steve Norman, a language barrier complicated the investigation, as none of the parties involved speak English. Cifuentes is believed to be a Guatemalan national.
The home where the incident occurred was found to contain large quantities of marijuana, suggesting it may have been a drug operation. Chief Norman noted that the drugs discovered inside the home were “far beyond even a trafficking amount.”
