Matthew 24:44 – “So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.” What happens when unexpected guests arrive at your home? Does everyone jump to attention and go into fight or flight trying to do a sudden cleanup? Or maybe you just look at your visitors and say, “Hey, we really live here!” Either way, people do occasionally drop in without notice and we have to deal with it.
Jesus is coming. That is a promise from both Him and His Father. He will make an appearance that will leave no doubt in the minds of the earth’s entire population that He, as God’s deliverer, has come. However, despite what we perceive as signs and wonders that have been happening for two thousand years, He hasn’t done it yet, with heavy stress on “yet”. Our Father is giving us all time to repent and be saved before that happens. He is patient and loves His creation and wants no more than to have all of us with Him for eternity. But we must make the decision to be His, and that decision must be made before it’s too late. We don’t know when Jesus will arrive. Jesus told us even He doesn’t know the day or hour, but come He will. And if we haven’t already given ourselves to Him, we will be unacceptable no matter how much we beg and plead. There won’t be any time for a last minute cleanup.
