VFW Post 539 contest winners announced
By TRICIA BEAR VFW POST 539,

The VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 539 and post members (our Veterans) works to teach our youth the skills to become responsible adults through serving our country, communities, veterans, and service members. We engage youth in positive volunteer experiences and believe every young person can find a place to serve that will improve their lives, as well as the lives they touch.

Spread patriotism through song! Youth in grades K-12 were encouraged to enter the VFW Auxiliary 539 National Anthem singing contest, “Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue!” Contestants are to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in the arrangement and genre of their choice: rock, pop, reggae, R&B, hip-hop, country, classical and other genres were accepted. However, they could not change the words! The contest consisted of two grade divisions: K-8 and 9-12 with judging starting at VFW Auxiliary level. The winner at VFW Auxiliary level in each division level would then go to VFW Auxiliary State for judging.

The VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 539, Henryetta, are very honored to announce that in each division level that Henryetta youth submitted to the VFW Auxiliary 539, Henryetta, are now going to Nationals for judging. One national winner in each grade division receives a $500 prize. The VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 539 will be cheering Breanna Bevenue and Caveryn Foster to bring home the win from the National VFW Auxiliary contest!

--- Illustrating America Art Contest VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 539 was excited for another year to kickoff the VFW Auxiliary’s annual Illustrating America art contest. Local students in grades K-8 shared how they view our world through their drawings and paintings. Students had to submit an original two-dimensional piece of artwork. Coloring sheets, digital art and photography were not accepted. The contest consists of three grade divisions: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

The VFW Auxiliary to Post 539 is excited to announce Auxiliary level winners. Though we believe every youth who submitted an entry is a winner! All the entries were fabulous! Each winner received a monetary prize, certificate, and gift.

--- Patriotic Art Contest

VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 539, Henryetta is excited to announce the winner of the VFW Auxiliary’s annual Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Local students in grades 9th-12th are encouraged to submit entries to have the opportunity to compete for $37,000 in for the National VFW Auxiliary scholarships.

The 1st place winner at Auxiliary level is Sierra Dubbs from Wilson Public School. She not only took 1st place for Auxiliary 539, but she also placed 3rd at State level. Excellent job Sierra.
