Rev. Edgar Elic McElhannon, 87, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Springfield, Mo.
Edgar was born near Henryetta on October 20, 1936, to Rev. Marvin and Rosetta (Been) McElhannon. He was the second of four sons. The family sharecropped for many years with cotton and peanuts being the primary crops.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Okmulgee First Assembly of God, 301 N Seminole in Okmulgee, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Salt Creek Cemetery in the Wilson community.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at Maranatha Village Chapel, 233 E Norton Rd. in Springfield, Mo.
In recognition of the impact Edgar’s alma mater had on his life and ministry, memorials may be directed to the existing McElhannon Scholarship, SAGU/Nelson University, 1200 Sycamore, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
