Henryetta downs Chelsea, Wyandotte
The Lady Knights fought their way to a district championship Wednesday afternoon after three wins, as Coach Aundrea Lee’s team moved on to the next round with an 18-12 record.
Though the Lady Knights suffered several losses earlier in the week against Stroud, Prague and Wyandotte, Henryetta showed no mercy as they dominated Chelsea 15-0, then beat Wyandotte twice, first 12-6 and then 11-1, snagging the District crown.
Thanks in part to 10 runs in the fourth inning, the Lady Knights dominated Chelsea with hits by Shannan Corkerin, Mckayla Greenhaw, Serenity Rex, Shelby Kilhoffer (walk), scoring one run; Allie Davis hitting a sacrifice fly, bringing in a run, and home runs by Ailanee Hicks and Kassidy Lee, which brought in five runs.
Serenity Rex went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Henryetta Varsity Knights in hits. Haley Lewis and Shannan Corkerin each collected multiple hits for Henryetta Varsity Knights.
In the finale game, Shelby Kilhoffer drove in four runs on two hits to help the Lady Knights cruise past the Wyandotte Lady Bears 11-1. Kilhoffer’s home run to center field in the third inning scored three runs. She also singled in the second inning, scoring one. Winter Beaver also hit a solo home run to center field, all which sealed the victory for Henryetta.
The Lady Knights are scheduled to travel to Stroud on April 23 at 4:30 p.m. for their next matchup.
