Dewar School Proposition on ballot
Early voting begins Thursday for voters in Okmulgee County who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day April 2.
Dewar Public Schools district citizens will be voting on a proposed special bond issue.
Improvements totaling $320,000 will seek to:
• Renovate, repair and/or remodel district-wide to include, but not be limited to: acquire and install flooring and remodel restrooms – $165,000
• Acquire and install playground equipment – $155,000
• Total $320,000 The proposition reads as follows: Shall Independent School District Number 8 of Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, incur an indebtedness by issuing its bonds in the sum of Three Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars ($320,000) to be issued in one or more series to provide funds for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites, and levy and collect an annual tax, in addition to all other taxes, upon all the taxable property in such District sufficient to pay the interest on such bonds as it falls due and also to constitute a sinking fund for the payment of the principal thereof when due, said bonds to bear interest not to exceed the rate of ten (10%) percentum per annum, payable semi-annually and to become due serially within ten (10) years from their date?
The proposition contained in this resolution requires a threefifths (60%) majority for its passage and approval.
