With Oklahoma’s storm season in full gear, there is always the risk of inclement weather and tornadoes, like last week’s storm that dropped hail and rain over the county. A welcome addition to the Schulter community are these new storm shelters. There are six shelters - five underground, and an above ground one that is handicap accessible. According to information provided, there are eight chairs in each shelter, along with capacity for six wheelchairs in one designated, for approximately 32 people, though more space is available for citizens who stand. No pets will be allowed but certified service dogs only. The project was made possible through grants to the Schulter community. The shelters are located next to the community center and behind the Schulter Fire Department.
