A Tulsa man is dead following a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
The crash was reported at 1:29 p.m. on State Highway 56 Loop and North Mission Road. The tragic incident left another man injured.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident involved two vehicles: a 2002 Lincoln Town Car and a 2006 Nissan 350Z. The Lincoln, driven by Ricci L. Barton, a 70-year-old male from Tulsa, was pronounced deceased at the scene due to massive injuries sustained in the collision. Barton’s vehicle was equipped with seatbelts and airbags, with the airbag deploying upon impact.
Barton was pinned for approximately one hour and 23 minutes before being freed by the Okmulgee Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
The second vehicle was driven by Jordan G. Chancellor, a 26-year-old male from Tuskahoma. He suffered injuries and was transported by Okmulgee County EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Chancellor was admitted in stable condition with injuries to the head, trunk (both internal and external), arms, and legs. The Nissan’s airbag also deployed upon impact.
Details surrounding the cause of the collision remain under investigation, including the condition of both drivers at the time of the incident. Authorities have not yet determined the factors leading to the tragic event.
First responders, including the Okmulgee County EMS, Okmulgee Fire Department, and Okmulgee County Sheriff ’s Office, swiftly responded to the scene.
Trooper Levi Foreman of the Okmulgee County Detachment of Troop B led the investigation, with assistance from Troopers Bryan Bell, Elijah Presley, and Lt. Mark Southall of Troop B.
