Area departments assist at scene
A Texas man was killed in a crash late Tuesday near Schulter, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The collision involving a pickup truck and a semi happened around 10:55 p.m. on Hwy. 75 northbound, 1/10th mile south of Schulter.
Killed in the crash was 56-year-old Steven Marshall of Bryan, Texas, who was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
A passenger, Warren Harjo, 55, of Texarkana, Texas, was transported by Creek Nation EMS to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in stable condition with head injuries.
The driver of the 2023 Volvo Semi, Dmitriy Napelenok, 33 of Broken Arrow, was not injured.
At the time of the crash, there was heavy fog, and the OHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
Almost 12 hours later, wreckers were working to remove the semi truck from the side of the highway, where it was lying on its side just off the highway.
Assisting the OHP at the scene were the Dewar Fire Department, Schulter Fire Department, Henryetta Fire Department, Okmulgee Emergency Management, Okmulgee County Sheriff ’s Office and Okmulgee County EMS.
