County numbers see slight drop in November
The employment rate around the state rose slightly during November, according to the latest statistics from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
Okmulgee County saw its job numbers dip to 4.1 percent during the month, down from 4.3 percent in September and October. There are 16,431 residents currently employable, with 669 without jobs. The number is slightly higher than Nov. 2022, when the county reported a rate of 4.0 percent. The coun- ty is in 69th place statewide.
In November, McIntosh County posted Oklahoma’s highest county unemployment rate of 5.5 percent. Seminole County reported the second-highest rate for the month, followed by Haskell County. Woods County reported the lowest county unemployment rate of 1.8 percent in November. Unemployment rates in November were higher than a year earlier in 64 counties, lower in nine counties and unchanged in four counties.
