The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners kicked off the week with their first meeting of the new year. They first heard from resident Vivian Leblanc who took time during public comments to thank Commissioner David Walker and employees at the District Two barn for their promptness in getting proper street signage for a problematic area.

The board then approved the following officer’s reports: December reports from the health department and County Clerk, November and December reports from the Sheriff ’s Office, and the Assessor’s Office reports from October, November, and December.

During the commissioner’s end-of-the-month meeting on Friday, Commissioner Walker was unanimously re-elected as chairman of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for another year. In that same meeting, the board approved an $800 EMPG grant that will cover travel and attendance fees for the Oklahoma Emergency Managers Conference in March.
