A nonpartisan Primary Election is set for Feb. 13, 2024, following the candidate filing period ended last week, according to Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary Ashley Carnes.
There will be no school board elections in February since all the posts only drew one candidate. Two school districts had no one to file for their open seats – Beggs and Schulter.
Okmulgee City Council Ward 4 drew three candidates who will be on February’s ballot. Incumbent Marcus Jeffrey is being challenged by Charlie Peoples and Steven D. Diamond.
Two citizens who originally filed for the Okmulgee City Council Ward 3 open seat – John Russell Neal and Chase Nunn. However, Nunn withdrew his candidacy on Wednesday, thus paving the way for Neal to assume the post next year.
