Commander Bill Goodner, officers and members of VFW Post 539 gathered Wednesday afternoon to replace two medallions on the Doughboy monument in front of the Henryetta Public Library.

There are five medals on the monument which depict the various branches of the United States Military.

However, vandals made off with two of them, removing the emblems,

which left the veterans wondering as to why they were taken.

Commander Goodner went in search of replacements and was able to obtain two new ones, which were installed Wednesday.

With a little bit of surface preparation, and extra strength adhesive, the symbols were put back in place.

Members in attendance gathered in front of the monument for photos, but did give a warning to would-be thieves that video surveillance is now being used to monitor the area.
