Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 will hold a Flag Drive to raise money to purchase new flags due to wear and tear of current flags.
VFW members will accept donations at Homeland and Walmart on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Every Memorial Day, VFW members and volunteers place over 2,500 flags at 10 area cemeteries to honor our veterans. Service life of each cemetery memorial flag is between three and four years, then they need to be replaced. Cost to replace each worn flag is $1.50.
“Please assist us to honor our veterans who have given their all,” VFW Flag Chairman Hugh Jackson said.
In addition to the cemeteries, the VFW supplies and maintains the flags on the main street city light poles. Any amount of donation you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
