Fundraiser to highlight food, fun and community
Grayson Mayor Leon Anderson invites the public to attend the town’s annual Gumbo Festival Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. The festival is the town’s main fundraiser, and those funds are important in helping maintain Grayson’s annual obligations.
Besides the good food, there will be a raffle, bounce house for children, socializing and a variety of vendors.
The event will be held at the Grayson Community Center, 24160 Martin Luther King, in Grayson. Filé Gumbo will be $12 and Seafood Gumbo will be $15, and both will be served with rice, dessert and a drink.
The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature various vendors, a Visitors Center showcasing the history of the Town of Grayson, a car display, motorcycles, a Kids Corner, music and more.
A Turkey Shoot will be held from 12-2 p.m. (shells provided), and a 50/50 Drawing & Quilt Raffle will follow at 3 p.m.
