Bulldogs continue search for first win Friday vs. Tulsa Central
Week 2 of the 2023 varsity football schedule will feature tough challenges for all six Okmulgee County squads on Friday night.
The highlight of Week 2’s schedule involving county teams will be the annual meeting between the Morris Eagles and Henryetta Golden Knights.
The county showdown between the rivals will take place at Larry Bookout Field in Morris and will be a battle for the prestigious Walker Cup – a traveling trophy to honor the late John Walker, who served as an administrator and football coach at both county schools. Morris captured the inaugural Walker Cup last year with an 1815 victory in Henryetta and will be looking to keep the trophy on campus with a second-straight win over its arch rival. The annual county battle will be the 20th meeting with the Eagles holding a 13-7 margin.
The Eagles enter the Week 2 contest with a 1-0 record following last week’s 56-12 season-opening win over Kellyville, while the Knights come into the county battle with a 1-1 record, beginning the 2023 season August 25 with a 40-32 victory over Hartshorne then suffering a 58-13 setback to Victory Christian last week in Henryetta.
