Clay, Hughes snare gold for BHS runners
The Beggs cross country program enjoyed a successful output last Saturday at the Oilton Invitational.
The top runners for the BPS cross country program last Saturday were high school athletes Chasity Clay and Jeremiah Hughes. Clay took home the first-place medal in the girls 2-mile race, finishing in a time of 15:21, while Hughes captured the gold medal in the boys 5K race, crossing the finish line in a time of 19:03.
The other Demon varsity runners at the Oilton Invitational were Isaiah Clay in seventh, Tristan Braden in ninth, and Oliver Wadsworth in 14th.
The top middle school runner for Beggs last Saturday was Rylan Wesley, who finished seventh in the girls 1-mile race with a time of 7:33. Wesley’s teammates – Lacie Williams and Piper Toon – finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively, at the event.
Memphis Resche was the top Beggs middle school boys runner at Oilton, finishing 11th overall, while Demetrius Olden was two spots back of Resche in 13th place.
The Beggs cross country program was back in action on Thursday, competing at Gore and will be in action September 9 at the annual Henryetta cross country meet at Nichols Park in Henryetta.
