Five Okmulgee County varsity football teams will compete in preseason scrimmages this Friday evening.
The county squads will use the scrimmages to get better prepared for the upcoming 2023 season, which will get started for two of the county teams next Friday (Aug. 25). All preseason scrimmages involving county teams are scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. The Henryetta Golden Knights will host a 4-team scrimmage Friday at historic Cameron Field. The preseason scrimmage will also feature the Okmulgee Bulldogs, as well as the Mounds Golden Eagles and the Meeker Bulldogs.
The Morris Eagles will also host a preseason scrimmage on Friday, welcoming the Eufaula Ironheads to Larry Bookout Field in Morris for a 2-team preseason battle.
The other two county teams competing in preseason scrimmages on Friday – Beggs and Dewar will travel to their destinations. The Beggs Golden Demons will head to Catoosa for a 2-team showdown with the Catoosa Indians, while the Dewar Dragons will travel to Gans for a preseason scrimmage against the Gans Grizzlies.
