A fire in a recreational vehicle, along with a jackknifed semi-truck Monday afternoon resulted in the closure of Interstate 40 near Henryetta.
No injuries were reported after the RV’s driver reported seeing sparks coming from the exhaust and pulled the vehicle to the side of I-40 near mile marker 238.
The RV became engulfed by flames, with the occupants escaping safely. The fire caught part of the nearby grass on fire, but was extinguished. Responding to the scene were Henryetta, Dewar and Plainview fire departments, along with Henryetta police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
A short time later, a semi-truck headed west jack- knifed, causing a spill of diesel fuel, which was remediated by hazardous materials crews.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the highway was closed for almost 2 ½ hours, with traffic being re-routed through Henryetta until the roadway was clear.
I-40 was re-opened to traffic at 4:23 p.m.
