Henryetta VFW Post 539 Commander Bill Goodner welcomed the community and veterans Monday at the annual Memorial Day ceremony at Westlawn Cemetery. Joining him on the platform was Mayor Michael Dickey and Breanna Bevenue, who sang the National Anthem, and Tricia Bear (VFW Post 539 Auxiliary) who read the Soldier’s Prayer. The men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military were honored during the program. Members of both the VFW Post 539 and American Legion Post 85 placed wreaths at the memorial located at the cemetery. See additional photos on page A6 of today’s edition.

VFW Post 539 members, VFW Post 539 Auxiliary members, Schulter School teachers and 4-H kids, American Guardian Bikers group, the Henryetta Rotary Club, the Battlin Betties and many more volunteers placed flags on veterans graves for Memorial Day and cleaned up the veterans bronze military grave foot markers at Westlawn Cemetery as well as several cemeteries surrounding Henryetta.
