I’ve been enjoying our May weather, especially after last year’s drought. Last year, I lost over half of everything I planted. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to have stopped my enthusiasm for trying again. So, fingers crossed, this year will be much better.

I harvested all my lilac blooms; both of my kitchen tables are covered in lilacs.
The whole house smells heavenly. As they dry, I have been packaging them into lilac tea. I tried a cup the other day and it’s just as good as I remember.
What is a good activity? Sitting with the window open, a delightful light breeze, watching birds at the bird feeder, and holding a comfortable cup in my hands while sipping on tea that I produced from my own mini farm. After a hard day’s work, little moments of solitude, reflection and contentment are highly appreciated.
I’ve decided I’m not stopping with lilac tea. Next, I’m going to experiment with lavender and catmint blooms. I’ve always been a big admirer of catmint. It handles Oklahoma weather like a pro and blooms from early spring till autumn.
Plus, I’ve read about four different types of lavender which do well in our ever changing environment. Excellent news! And via research, I have discovered both catmint and lavender can be used as beneficial tasty teas. It’s a winning combo.
Beautiful purple blooms, easy on the eyes with a variety of potential health benefits.
Hoorah!
