The Dewar Lady Dragon varsity slowpitch softball team earned their 15th win of the 2023 campaign Monday evening with a 12-4 victory over the Okemah Lady Panthers.

The Lady Dragons, ranked 13th in Class 2A, returned to action Thursday with a trip to Preston for an Okmulgee County battle with the Class 4A No. 6 Preston Lady Pirates.

In Monday’s road battle with Okemah, the Dewar squad opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the first. After both teams plated a run in their half of the second for a 5-1 Dewar advantage, the Lady Dragons extended their lead to 7-1 with a pair of runs in the top of the third.

Okemah cut the Dewar lead to four, 7-3, with two runs in the home half of the fourth, while the visitors pushed across five runs in the top of the fifth for a 12-3 advantage.

The host Lady Panthers were only able to tally one run in the last of the fifth to award the visiting Dewar Lady Dragons the 12-4, run-rule, win.
