The Okmulgee Bulldog varsity baseball team ran into a pair of buzzsaws this past Monday afternoon in Tulsa.

The Bulldogs were held hitless in a pair of District 3A-5 battles with the Cascia Hall Commandos.

Cascia Hall took the opening contest by a 15-0 margin, then came out of the nightcap with a 12-0 advantage to hand the Okmulgee diamond squad the district doubleheader sweep.

The Bulldogs were back in action Thursday with a trip to Weleetka and will return home Friday for a showdown with Checotah. The Okmulgee squad will begin next week’s schedule with a home-andhome district series with Prague, beginning Monday at Morgan Field at Bateman Park in Okmulgee.

In Monday’s opening game against Cascia Hall, the host Commandos opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second, Cascia Hall plated eight in the third and five in the fourth to hand the Bulldogs the 15-0 defeat.

The only baserunners for Okmulgee in Game 1 were Jordan Deere with a leadoff walk in the first and Alex Gilmour with a leadoff hit by a pitch in the fourth.

Daylan Callaway was saddled with the pitching loss for the Bulldogs in Game 1, allowing 10 runs on eight hits with three strikeouts, seven walks, and one hit batsman in two and two-third innings of work.

Brandon Simon worked one-plus innings of relief in Game 1, giving up five runs on three hits, striking out two, walking three, and hitting a batter.

In Monday’s second game of the twinbill, the host Commandos opened the scoring with six runs in the home half of the first, then added four in the second and two in the third to hand the visiting Bulldogs the 12-0 setback.

The lone baserunner for Okmulgee in Game 2 was Ryder Hedges, who drew a one-out walk in the third.

Jordan Deere was handed the pitching loss in the nightcap, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits in one and two-third innings of work.
