The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity slowpitch softball team traveled to Checotah this past Monday to take on a pair of McIntosh County opponents the Eufaula Lady Ironheads and the host Checotah Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Knights dropped the road meeting with Eufaula by a 9-1 margin, then came away with a split decision in Monday’s road trip, defeating the host Lady Wildcats by a 17-2 margin.

The Henryetta squad returned to action Thursday at the Checotah Slowpitch Softball Tournament and is scheduled to host arch rival Morris on Monday.

In Monday’s battle with Eufaula, the Lady Knights tallied their lone run in the top of the first on an RBI double by Winter Beaver.

Eufaula plated a pair of runs in the home half of the inning for a 2-1 advantage, then added five in the second and two in the fourth for a 9-1 lead.

The Henryetta offense was unable to produce any runs in the top of the fifth to suffer the 9-1 setback.

Besides Beaver’s RBI double, the only other base hits for the Lady Knights against Eufaula came on singles by McKayla Greenhaw, Kinley Miller, Brooklyn Baughman, and Haley Lewis and a double by Shelby Kilhoffer.

In Monday’s showdown with Checotah, the Lady Knight offense caught fire in the opening frame, plating 12 runs for a early 12-0 advantage.

The Henryetta diamond squad added four in the second and one in the third to extend their lead to 17-0 after two and one-half innings of action.

Checotah broke up the shutout bid with two runs in the bottom of the third to make the final outcome, 17-2, in favor of the visiting Henryetta Lady Knights.

The Henryetta offensive attack against Checotah was led by Ailanee Hicks, who finished 3 for 4 with a pair of singles, a double, and 4 RBIs.

Other Lady Knight players with multi-hit games in the run-rule win were McKayla Greenhaw (2 for 2, 2 singles, RBI), Shelby Kilhoffer (2 for 3, single, triple, 3 RBIs), Kinley Miller (2 for 2, 2 singles, 2 RBIs), and Brooklyn Baughman (2 for 3, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) with two hits apiece.
