Knights capture team title; Lady Knights finish second

The Henryetta varsity tennis program came away with a pair of Top 5 finishes last week at the annual Henryetta 4A tennis tournament.

The Knights edged out the Riverfield Ravens by a 27-25 margin for the team championship this past Friday, while the Lady Knights finished with the team runner-up trophy last Thursday, finishing two points (29-27) behind the Riverfield Lady Ravens.

Christian Heritage finished third at the girls tournament with 23 points, followed by Lincoln Christian in fourth with 19 points. Wagoner rounded out the Top 5 team standings in fifth with 13 points.

At Friday’s boys side of the annual Henryetta tournament, third place went to Elk City with 22 points, followed by Harrah in fourth with 20 points and Christian Heritage fifth with 17 points.

The top medalists for the Lady Knights last Thursday were the Doubles teams of Katie Davis and Kellyn Lollis (No. 1 Doubles) and Casi Bailey and Emma Thompson (No. 2 Doubles), who both took home gold medals.

Abbi Dodge took home a silver medal at the home tournament for her runner-up finish in No. 1 Singles.

Andrea Wade finished fifth overall in No. 1 Singles for the tournament hosts, while Stormy Miller took home the seventh-place medal in No. 2 Singles action.

The Knights were led last Friday by the No. 1 Dou- bles tandem of Sheldon Andrews and Bryaden Jones, who swept through their competition to capture the championship medals.

Ethan Lovell took home the silver medal at the home event, finishing runner-up in No. 1 Singles, while Nick Hudson was awarded the bronze medal for his third-place finish in No. 2 Singles action.

The No. 2 Doubles team of Jason Scott and Gavin Williams finished fourth overall at the home tournament.

Connor Matlock rounded out the Knight individual placements at the home tournament, finishing sixth overall in No. 2 Singles action.

The next scheduled action for the Henryetta varsity tennis program came Tuesday at home against Byng, McAlester, and Okmulgee. The Lady Knight net squad will close out the week with a home battle with Tulsa Union, beginning at 10 a.m.
