HHS link squad’s best finish so far comes at Wewoka
The Henryetta Golden Knight varsity golf team has competed in four tournaments so far in 2023.
The four tournaments that featured Knight golfers were the Sperry Invitational in Sapulpa on March 3, the Wewoka Invitational on March 9, the Bristow Invitational on March 20, and the McAlester Invitational on March 21.
The HHS golf squad was back in action Monday, hosting their annual home tournament - the Jeff Lawrence Invitational.
In the season opener at Sapulpa, the Knights finished with a team score of 341 at the 18-hole event. The top individual performer at Sapulpa was Brady Norman, who finished fifth individually with a total score of 73. Hunter Gobin was next on the Henryetta individual scoreboard with a score of 85, followed by Lucas Thompson at 89, Caveryn Foster at 94, and Noah White at 111.
At Wewoka, the Knights finished as the tournament runner-up with a team total of 187, as the tournament field was only able to get nine holes in before the event was stopped due to inclement weather.
Brady Norman took home the individual runner-up medal at the event, finishing the 9-hole event with a score of 42. Hunter Gobin and Caveryn Foster were next individually for Henryetta with identical scores of 49, followed by Lucas Thompson at 50 and Jacob Nail at 61.
At Bristow, the Knights finished with a team total of 412 with Brady Norman pacing the HHS squad with an 18hole score of 91. Hunter Gobin was next individually for the Knights with a score of 98, followed by Caveryn Foster at 111, Lucas Thompson at 112, and Jacob Nail at 116. Noah White competed as a individual at the tournament, finishing with an 18-hole score of 121.
At McAlester, the Knights finished the event with a team total of 383. Brady Norman (93) edged Hunter Gobin (94) by one stroke to pace the Knights individually at the 18-hole tournament.
The other individual scores for the Knights at McAlester were Caveryn Foster at 97, Lucas Thompson at 99, and Maverix Randleman at 107. Jacob Nail competed as an indvidual at the tournament, finishing with an 18-hole score of 107.
After the home tournament on Monday, the Knights traveled to Roland Tuesday to compete in the Roland Invitational and will finish the week at the Eufaula Classic Saturday at Fountainhead Golf Course in Checotah.
