The Lady Eagles took both meetings with the visiting Lady Chargers by identical 24-0 margins.
The Morris ladies were scheduled to return to action Tuesday with a home battle with Beggs, but the county contest was postponed due to wet field conditions.
The Lady Eagles’ next diamond action took place Thursday and Friday at the Okmulgee Slowpitch Softball Festival in Okmulgee. The Morris squad was scheduled to battle Gore and Stilwell Thursday at 12 and 1 p.m., respectively, and are set to take on Wilson and Warner Friday at 3 and 6 p.m., respectively.
In Monday’s opening contest, the Lady Eagles began the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first, then added nine in the second, four in the third, and nine in the fourth for the decisive 24-0 victory.
The Lady Eagles’ top hitter in the season opener was Marti Yaerger, who finished 4 for 4 at the plate with a pair of singles, two doubles, and 3 RBIs.
Maddie Moore (3 for 3, 2 singles, double, 2 RBIs) and Emma Duclos (3 for 4, 2 singles, triple, 4 RBIs) were next offensively for Morris with three hits apiece.
Firé Clark (2 for 4, single, double, RBI) and Alli Guynes (2 for 4, 2 singles) also recorded multihit games in the season-opening win with two hits each.
The remaining Morris base hits in Game 1 came on singles by Ashlyn Clevenger and Briley Cagle, an RBI single by Kaydence Ausbrooks, and a 2-run home run in the fourth by Dezmond Lewis. Clevenger drove in a run in the third with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Jessica Wilson had a pair of RBIs for the Lady Eagles in the contest with an RBI walk in the second and an RBI groundout in the fourth, while Camara Casey drove in a run in the second with an RBI walk.
In Monday’s second game of the twinbill, the Lady Eagles began the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the first, then added three in the second and four in the third for a 14-0 advantage after three innings of action.
The Morris squad put the finishing touches on their second 24-0 victory with a 10-run home half of the fourth.
Marti Yaerger once again was the top offensive performer for the Lady Eagles in Game 2, finishing 4 for 4 with a single, double, two home runs, and 6 RBIs. Yaerger’s roundtrippers came on a 3-run blast in the first and a solo shot in the third.
Maddie Moore (3 for 3, 2 singles, home run, 5 RBIs) and Emma Duclos (3 for 4, 2 singles, double, 2 RBIs) were next in the offensive scorebook for Morris with three hits each with Moore’s home run coming on a 3-run blast in the third.
The quartet of Dezmond Lewis (2 for 3, single, double, 2 RBIs), Ashlyn Clevenger (2 for 4, single, double), Briley Cagle (2 for 3, 2 singles, 2 RBIs), and Firé Clark (2 for 3, 2 singles, RBI) also tallied multiple hits in the decisive win with two hits apiece. One of Cagle’s 2 RBIs came on an RBI groundout in the fourth.
The final four Morris base hits in Game 2 came on singles by Jessica Wilson, Kaydence Ausbrooks, Alli Guynes, and Courtney Wallace.
