Bullard recognized for service
Henryetta School Board President James Williams presented outgoing member David Bullard a plaque thanking him for service to the district during Monday’s meeting. Bullard stepped down this month after serving on the board for the past five years.
The board accepted and awarded the bid from Skyrider Communications for the HPS Security Camera Project.
The lowest bid for the project was about $480,000, and came from Skyrider that will be paid for with ESSR funds. However, the company has experienced a delay in receiving their license to be a CCTV access-control contractor for the State of Oklahoma.
A lengthy discussion by the board ensued with members asking company representatives several questions about the camera system, installation, company experience, maintenance cost, and the possibility of not getting their Oklahoma license in time, and who would be licensed to perform the work and installation.
The next committee meeting for license approval is not until April 1. In the event of a snafu or denial with their license application, Skyrider has partnered with another licensed contractor.
The school board approved the matter, subject to the receipt of the company’s license, by a vote of 4-1.
Approval was given for the FY 2023-24 school calendar, though members discussed various school start dates and possible changes. They agreed on the new calendar, but will consider other related issues in the future.
Items approved were:
• Regular board meeting minutes of Feb. 13, special meetings of Feb. 20 and Feb. 24.
• Fundraiser requests for 2022-23 school year.
• 2022-23 Audit Contract and Engagement letter with Bledsoe, Hewett and Gullekson.
• Henryetta Public School Concurrent Enrollment Policy for the 2023-24 school year.
• Resignations of Andrea Hargis and Cassandra Thompson as of May 15, 2023.
