She grew up with her two older siblings, Tom and Jane. As a little girl, she liked playing music and writing. Her favorite colors are blue and green.
Sarah attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. studying music composition. She moved to New York City after graduation and had many jobs before she decided to write children’s
Her best-known novel, “So B,” was published in 2004 and won several juvenile literature awards. This was her first YA novel and is now a major motion picture. In her 30 years of writing, she has published over 60 books.
Sarah and her husband, Jim Fyfe, a high school history teacher and their dog, Mia live between their two homes in Nyack and Jeffersonville, New York. They have two grown sons, Gabriel and Nathaniel, and a granddaughter. Sarah’s hobbies include baking, reading. swimming, gardening, playing word games on her phone and hanging out with friends and family.
Along with her writing, Sarah visits school children (grades K through 8th), talking about her books; she teaches writing workshops for adults and children; she is a popular keynote speaker at conferences, and she is an accomplished singer/
